Stanley Road Peace Picnic
On Friday 25th June the children from Stanley Road Primary School and their local community gathered at Fort Royal Park to celebrate peace and diversity. The glorious sunshine and spectacular panoramic skyline provided the perfect landscape for the peace artwork and performances from all of the pupils of Stanley Road Primary School and Ian Cragan hosted special guests DrumLove, Dhol Unit and storyteller Katrice Horsley.
Children and teachers danced into the park to a rendition of “All these things I have done” generating a rush of excitement and joy touching everyone and everything in its path as the whole community joined in and were welcomed by Martin Luther King inspired speeches. Dancing and singing by the pupils at Stanley road, storytelling by Katrice Horsley and collaborative performances by DrumLove and the Dhol Unit helped make the peace picnic was a real success nourishing the hearts and souls of everyone who attended.
“It’s absolutely wonderful! I am so impressed at what I have seen so far, and what I like is the community spirit, everyone is together and we have a happy community. That is what I am seeing today and I want to encourage it!” –Councillor Mike Layland Mayor of Worcester.
