Map of Memories
Stanley Road Primary School and its surrounding community are home to a vast array of cultures, traditions and memories. This breadth of culture is known to the pupils and their families, but may be less apparent to neighbouring communities (or even to people living in the Stanley Road area).
The Map of Memories project led by local artist Al Pagan is enabling the community to collate these stories and memories into a creative visual and auditory journey by using new media tools and Stanley Road pupils' journalistic techniques. Members of the community are working with the children and sharing personal objects, photographs and stories from their childhoods. Using a wide range of dynamic digital tools young people are tracing the memories’ origin through a Google earth interface on the project website and the visitor will be treated to a automated guided tour of the rich tapestry of memories harvested through this ongoing community project.
Have a look and listen on the project website and if you feel inspired to share a memory or story feel free to do so, we would love to hear it
