Martley Short Stay School Film Making Project

This was an exciting project designed to engage young people from Newbridge Lower School. The young people involved have made a film based around the theme of 'choices', called "Who Cares?"

They wanted to create a film to show the choices young people have, the decisions they make and how they can affect their education and future options. They have drawn upon their own experiences to create this dynamic internet based resource. Working alongside teachers and creative professionals the young people developed a diverse range of new skills and improved their self-esteem and confidence. This six week project began on Thursday 23rd September 2010, filming has now finished,  and the film was screened for the first time to an invited audience on November 10th.

The project has had a very positive impact on the participants, both staff and pupils commented on how much they enjoyed being involved. They also felt that the development of new skills, and the increased confidence of the young people would be hugely beneficial in the future.

The film will be shared with groups across the county and will also be made available nationwide.
