Green Fingers Tree House Launched!
The Green Fingers project unveiled their brand new eco 'tree house' at the Top Barn Centre in Holt Heath at a wonderful launch event in the September sunshine.
The Green Fingers Project aims to boost the emotional and physical health of looked-after children by giving them the chance to participate in a range of artistic, horticultural and healthy lifestyle activities and all the participants will now be able to use the Tree House as a base to deliver further sessions and workshops.
A retired articulated lorry was transformed into a beautiful Tree House nestling in the canopy and features an outdoor room, a 60 metre decking area exterior and a sedum roof whilst the interior features include low carbon heating and lighting systems and a generously proportioned kitchen with a flexible working environment.
This creative project was lead by Pablo Productions who created the building using locally sourced sustainable materials. Young people worked along side the professionals in all aspects of the design process generating innovative ideas and sharing ownership of the project. The tree house blends perfectly with the surrounding area and will provide an excellent base for many years to come.
"The transformation of the lorry is absolutely amazing, the children are going to benefit from it greatly. It's fantastic to be a part of such an innovative project, there is nothing else like it in Worcestershire" - Jo Frost, Community & Leisure Development Worker and Green Fingers Project Manager
