Chadsgrove School and Specialist Sports College

Chadsgrove School & Specialist Sports College is for children who have a physical disability. Many pupils also have additional sensory, communication or learning difficulties. Through a consultation process key issues have emerged for consideration. By supporting extended services at Chadsgrove, we aim to increase arts focused provision, support parental engagement and also encourage siblings of pupils at the school to take part in a wide range of arts activities.

The project aims to encourage siblings to come and take part in creative projects that will not only allow them to work with their siblings but will also provide them with the opportunity to network with other young people. The project began with a two week pilot on Saturday mornings where young people took part in yoga, filmmaking, photography and animation.

This first phase began on Saturday 15th May, the yoga class provided an opportunity for the other young people learning multi media skills to document the activity. A small group of pupils attended the multi media workshops in order to learn new skills and document the yoga project by producing short films, podcasts, and radio adverts. The outcomes are available for families, friends and other schools to see and the school will use these materials to promote the activities to a wider audience and share the model of working with other special schools around the county.
